Rita E. Meyer

Rita E. Meyer, 101, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the Waterville Residential and Care Center. She was born on April 12, 1922, a daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Rooney) Foy. She was a graduate of Newdorp High School in Staten Island. In April of 1951, Rita married Leonard Meyer, in Staten Island. He predeceased her on November 27, 1995. 
Rita worked as a Nurse’s Aid at Pathfinder Village in Edmeston, NY. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hamilton and St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Waterville.  https://www.burgessandtedescofuneralhomes.com/obituaries/rita-meyer

Robert F. Kennedy is fatally shot

“Shortly after midnight on June 5, 1968, Senator Robert Kennedy is shot at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles after winning the California presidential primary. Immediately after he announced to his cheering supporters that the country was ready to end its fractious divisions, Kennedy was shot several times by 24-year-old Palestinian Sirhan Sirhan. He was pronounced dead a day later, on June 6, 1968. “
