IN MEMORIAM

Calvin E. Tabolt

Apr 6, 1944 — Mar 24, 2022
Calvin E. Tabolt, 77, of Madison, NY
passed away on March 23, 2022. Calvin was born on April 6, 1944 to Edgar and Grace (Hamilton) Tabolt. Calvin served in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam Crisis and, as he was fond of saying, trained many men to “jump out of perfectly good airplanes”. He loved adventure and to travel in his younger years and lived and worked in Alaska and traveled from one end of the country to the other. He loved sharing tales of his adventures. A great source of joy for Calvin was being with people and seeing the good in all..Click HERE for the complete obituary.

Just a reminder of the upcoming burn ban this week.
Annual burn ban in effect from March 16 through May 14.
Open burning is the single greatest cause of wildfires in NYS.
Since the spring burn ban was implemented in 2009,
the number of wildfires has decreased by more than 40%.
Watch a Public Service Announcement on open burning and check out
other clips on DEC’s YouTube Channel (leaves DEC website).
When you plan a fire, always check for fire danger in your area on DEC’s online map
(updated every week). Also, local governments may have stricter rules than NYS;
your fire department will have information about local burning laws.

Waterville FFA Alumni & Supporters Seek Members

You don’t have to be a former FFA member to support FFA, agricultural education and the future of agriculture. “You just have to want to make a difference!” FFA Alumni & Supporters play a very important part in keeping agricultural education and FFA programs in our local schools. FFA relies on its alumni & supporters to garner support for FFA from their local communities, raise funds for state & chapter activities and scholarships, assist at FFA leadership camps and conferences, and much more.

Waterville FFA Alumni and Supporters membership is open to anyone who is interested in supporting and promoting our Waterville FFA members. If you are proud of FFA and want to help local FFA members acquire knowledge and experience from agricultural education and FFA activities – the Waterville FFA Alumni & Supporters Chapter is for you! Members help support their chapters through the gifts of time, talent and resources. Give back your skills, starting at the local level. This support gives teachers more time and freedom to do what they do best—teach students. For more information: NY FFA Alumni & Supporters Here is a link for our Waterville membership form.  If you need more information, contact Tom or Sarah Barnes or Mrs. Gallagher.

As we excitedly anticipate to the installation of new carpet later this spring throughout the Reading Room, Children’s Room and office space, we are in full planning. Every shelf and piece of furniture that is not attached to a wall will be moved, most for the first time since the library was built in 2006! So not only are we anticipating the carpet install needs, but if the spaces could use any shifting when we bring them back together. Please share what future needs or wishes you have (that’s how we meet those needs)…WPL is hoping our community can help us with: STURDY, clean box donations, starting now. – Muscle to move shelves, etc. Details TBA once we know when. But if you have teens who need volunteer hours, we will be able to provide plenty of them!

Lenten Light Is On Campaign

Positivity Project: You could feel the energy in the MPS gym today for our monthly Matter Meeting.
Every single person at our school found a way to contribute to helping others. We raised money for the
St. Baldrick’s Foundation, donated hair to Children With Hair Loss, supported
a local family impacted by a house fire and presented Ivy Cameron a special Fire and Safety Honor.
We appreciate the local fire departments and Sheriff’s department being here today.

Well! Those animals certainly played hard, explored the library and cozied up during their sleepover!
Snacks, their own books, the Seed Cupboard, science kit experiments, block buildings, MarioKart,
and enough fun that we found them still sleepy when we returned this morning!
They may need extra naps and snuggles, but they’re ready to go home when you have a chance to pick them up!

Story Hour had an a fun visit from Maryellen last Friday for Agriculture Literacy Week!
If you missed it, you can still check out the book that was donated to our collection,
Farmer Will Allen and the Growing Table! PLUS, you can stop by the Seed Cupboard to
plan your own garden! It’s just brimming with beautiful options!
