Renew a Book

At the Waterville Public Library, books, DVDs, and all other library items (except interlibrary loans) may be renewed up to two times as long as it isn’t on hold for another patron. This can easily be done by calling the library at 315.841.4651 during regular hours, or by renewing the item online using the catalog.

To renew a book using the catalog:

1. Go to the catalog and log in with your library card number (without the ‘A’) and your PIN (the last four digits of your phone number).

2. Click on My Account, and then select the “Checkouts” tab. You should see a list of all the materials currently on your card.

3. Select the materials you’d like to renew, and then click Renew at the bottom or top of your list. A confirmation screen will appear. Select ‘Yes’ and then the page will refresh. The item will have a new due date if the renewal was successful.

Please call the library at the above number if you are having trouble or if your renewal was unsuccessful.

Library Email Notices:
Receive a notice via email when your requested items are ready to be picked up and when they are overdue! Just send an email to Librarynotice@midyork.org with your name & library card number. Email notices will replace telephone notices.

Request a Book

If the item that you are looking for is currently checked out to another patron, or owned by another Mid-York Library, you may place a hold (request) on it. This will ensure that when the book becomes available or if it already is at another library, it gets sent to the library of your selection. When the book arrives, the library will contact you and you may pick it up.

In order to place a hold, a valid Mid-York library card is needed. Please see Get a Library Card for information if you do not have one.

The first step to placing a hold on an item is logging in to the Mid-York Catalog. You will need to type in your library card number (without the ‘A’) and your PIN (usually the last four digits of your phone number).

Search for the materials you are looking for. After searching for and locating your materials, place the hold.

Click Place Hold to the right of the item on the search list. If you haven’t already logged in, you will be prompted to do so. If you have logged in, a new window will appear where you can choose where to pick the item up.

When you are finished, click Place Hold. A new window will appear stating that you have placed it successfully. Don’t forget to log out when you are finished!

If you do not see a book that you would like in the Mid-York System, you may Interlibrary Loan the item. Call the library at 315.841.4651 and we will gladly assist you.
